Reviews of the Riu all inclusive resorts in Cancun, Mexico were recently added to the resorts section.
Riu Resorts is a European company with all inclusive resorts all over the world. Most of the resorts are very large with 400 - 500 rooms. Riu resorts usually have very grand buildings with luxurious architecture, huge swimming pools, and fairly decent junior suites.
The
best reviewed and ranked Riu resort in Cancun is the Riu Caribe. It is a large resort that looks like a Mayan temple. It has a nice streatch of white sand beach and a huge swimming pool. It is located within the Cancun hotel zone, but it is not in the most crowded area.
The other two Riu resorts in Cancun are the
Riu Cancun and
Riu Palace Las Americas. They are both located within the Cancun hotel zone near the main nighclub and shopping district. This is a good location if you want to go to the clubs each night, but otherwise the location is on a small section of beach crowded with other resorts.
The main negative about the Riu Cancun is that it is a tall building that blocks out the sun to the pools and beach for most of the afternoon.
Riu resorts have buffets with a wide selection and specialty restaurants you need to make reservations for. The specialty restaurants require men to wear long pants and sleeves. There is room service and snacks, but the options are limited. Each room has its own liquor dispenser and mini fridge.
One of the best features of all Riu resorts is the staff. They go out of their way to make sure you are having a good vacation.
When deciding if you should go to a Riu all inclusive resort in Cancun, ask youself if you are looking for nightclubs or a good beach vacation. If you primarily want a good beach vacation, then the Riu Caribe is your best bet in Cancun. You should also consider the
Riu resorts near Playa del Carmen on the Riviera Maya as they have larger beaches and exchange privileges with numerous Riu resorts located next door to each other.
