All Inclusive Resorts
Just steps away from Playa del Carmens coveted 5th Avenue Shops lays 2 new exciting all inclusive destinations. Sol Melia Hotel & Resorts to Debut two All-Inclusive Paradisus Resorts that open Fall 2011-Paradisus Playa del Carmen Adults and Paradisus Playa del Carmen Families!
The Adults Only, Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Perla, will open on November 15 and include 534 suites, 122 of which are Royal Service and two Presidential; six restaurants, five bars and a signature Gabi Beach Club. While the Family, Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Esmeralda, will open on November 30 and will feature 325 suites including two Presidential suites–most notably 120 Family Concierge suites which allow for two & three bedroom suite configurations, unique in catering to the luxury family segment. The hotel will feature five restaurants and four bars in addition to a Gabi Beach Club and a Kid’s Zone.
Both resorts will share a 20,000-square-foot YHI Spa and Health Club and more than 12,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Each resort will also feature dramatic free form pools and artful landscapes which have become a brand signature. Complimentary life-enriching classes such as sushi making, wine tasting, etc. will also be available at both properties.
They will be located about 45 minutes from Cancun International Airport and just steps from extraordinary beaches and attractions such as Playa del Carmen's 5th Avenue, Xcaret, Akumal, Xel-Ha, and near world-famous Mayan archaeological sites such as Tulum, Chichén Itzá and Cobá.
I've never been to a Paradisus resort before. If I remember right, I saw that the Paradisus Punta Cana had won some awards so I started reading some reviews. The reviews were not glowing. I thought it was odd that an award winning resort would have negative reviews. From what I remember, the Royal Service section is only for adults. That is where I would stay if I went to one of these new resorts.
Does anyone know how the Paradisus resorts compare to resorts such Sandals, Secrets, Couples and Palace resorts? I'm searching for an all inclusive resort without children for this next winter.

In order to receive poolside and beach service which I feel are very important you have to be in the Royal Suites with Paradisus resort. IMO it is one of the biggest downside to their resorts. The Paradisus Palma Real gets very decent reviews, but in my recent travels to all of Paradisus/Melia resorts in Punta Cana they could use some classes in customer service with their guest. I feel that there is a morale problem and the workers seem to be disgruntled. Great service will go a long way in evening out the bad and without it the even the good appears to be bad.I will be visiting the Paradisus Playa Carmen when they open and I do hope to see great service as the location for this resort is very desirable. It is a 7 minute walk from the lobby to 5th avenue.
I have seen resorts win diamond awards and tripadvisor awards but still get negative reviews. Royal Hideaway is another case of this.
Couples resorts are great if you like activities as they provide a lot with their all inclusive plan. Their resorts are more rustic, but the service is amazing.
I have not been to all of the Palace resorts, but I can say that LeBlanc is amazing which is owned by Palace. If you want to stay Adults only you would be down to Sun Palace and Aventura. Location would play a big part on the decision of where to stay as Palace resorts are more towards the Cancun area.
My favorite resort goes to Secrets however. The Sanctuary Cap Cana is definitely one of my favorite resorts.
Comment by Nathan Andover on July 12, 2011 at 11:16pm The Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Perla and the family friendly Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Esmeralda will have an advantage being so close to the shopping, restaurants & bars on 5th Avenue. Not everyone wants to be in the middle of nowhere.
I also have heard great things about LeBlanc in Cancun. Most of the Palace Resorts are well reviewed.
Secrets Sanctuary Cap Cana has been near the top of my wish list for many years. Is it still true that they are the only Secrets that allows children?
Comment by amber heenan on July 13, 2011 at 6:51am Nathan, you'll have to scratch Secrets Sanctuary off your list because the resort is no longer a Secrets Resort.
