All inclusive resorts are getting better at providing fun vacations for teenagers. 13 - 19 year olds have too much energy and are way too social to simply sit on the beach all week.

If teenagers don't want to go to a "boring" resort for a week, then the parents won't book the vacation. Resorts are finally figuring this out. Many resorts, especially family resorts such as Beaches, have greatly improved their activites and programming for teenagers.

In the past, the thought was that you service the parents and offer "kids clubs" for the children under the age of 12. This worked for many families until their kids were too old for the kids club, but not old enough to just sit on the beach all day.

To solve this problem, teens are catered to with special areas of the resort designed just for them. They also have counselors who help with introductions and activites such as organized games, bonfires, dance clubs with specialty non-alcoholic drinks, day trips, etc...

There still are plenty of opportunities for quality family time, but every teen will tell you they need a chance to go off on their own and have some fun. All inclusive resorts are finally figuring out how to allow this to happen in a safe and organized way by offering numerous choices for their teen guests.

Have you taken teenagers to an all inclusive resort?

We had a pretty good experience at the Club Med all inclusive resorts. They have all sorts of activities for all age groups. They have a "circus school" at some of their resorts where the teenagers can do trapeeze and other fun things. I think the kids liked it better than we did. Lots to do, but the rooms were a little small for what we needed and there were two single beds in our ajoining rooms on the parents side - and we couldn't even push the beds together. Kids enjoyed it so much we would probably return to Club Med, but we would pay more attention to the level of room we would be staying in.
