Riu Palace Tropical Bay Review:
A large all inclusive resort for singles, couples, and families.
Like most Riu resorts the buildings, grounds, and pool are very
impressive, but the natural setting of the beach, water, and
sunsets is the most impressive of all. The staff is wonderful and
they appreciate tips. Overall, you will be disappointed if you
expect a five star resort, otherwise this is an impressive
place.
The food is good with large buffets and beach grills with good jerk
chicken. The specialty restaurants are good, but they could be
better considering the trouble you need to go through to get a
reservation. You have to wake up early and go to the front desk on
the same day you want the dinner reservation. There are only two
seating times available (early and late) with most people wanting
the early seating so they won't miss the evening entertainment.
You will need to take a cab if you want to take a walk down the
famous seven mile beach in Negril. The trip to the "cliffs" area is
a long cab ride and probably not worth it unless you really enjoy
diving off rock formations into the water. The other potential day
trips (such as waterfalls and mountain riverwalks) are nice, but
they are long trips.
There is very little nightlife at this resort and no disco.
However, you can take a short cab ride to the Riu Negril to find
more options for nightlife after 10 pm.
