I wonder why the big all inclusive companies don't have more resorts in Florida? I would think it would be easier to get Americans to travel to resorts in Florida since the flight would be shorter and cheaper and there would be no need for passports.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe there are more regulations and taxes, but Florida is known as a pretty tax friendly place. Maybe the cost of labor being higher? Or a shorter season since it is further north?
I think the biggest reason why there are few all inclusive resorts in Florida is because of the weather.
January is a popular month for all inclusive resort vacations. The average Florida temperature in January is in the low 70's. Still nice, but you don't want to pay for an all inclusive resort vacation and then have weather in the 60's when you get there.
Placing resorts on Caribbean islands and in Mexico allows companies to lower their risk of having cooler weather.
