Anyone Been To All Inclusive Resorts In Turkey Or Egypt?

I just got done reading an article about how the top destination for Europeans this year is the all inclusive resorts in Turkey and Egypt.

I guess the Europeans go to these destinations because they are cheap. The shorter flights for Europeans are also probably more in line with this year's economic realities compared to longer flights to Mexico or the Caribbean.

Has anyone been to an all inclusive resort in Turkey or Egypt?

In Turkey, I guess most of the resorts are located on the southern coast along the Mediterranean and maybe some on the Black Sea? I looked into a few options and it seems like there are some large European resorts in Turkey such as Iberostar and Barcelo.

In Egypt, I have no idea where the major resort areas are. Maybe Sharm el Sheikh? I'm not sure I would be comfortable going to an all inclusive resort in Egypt. I know most Egyptians are nice and normal, but there are a few Egyptians who try to kill Americans whenever possible.

How do they compare to the all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico?

How do the exchange rates work out for Americans traveling to these destinations?

I would imagine the flights would be much more expensive?

The Club Med in Bodrum Turkey is really nice. There are no children's programs so it has a quiet adult feel to it. They have great theme night dinners. Most of the resort guests get really dressed up for the formal dinner nights. The only downside of this resort is that it is a little hilly so getting to the beach would be difficult if you have problems with stairs. Also, most people at this resort speak Turkish or French, although many on the staff had the ability to understand English.

I haven't been there yet, but I have been hearing good things about the resorts and beaches in Turkey.

I figure I might wait for the exchange rate to be more favorable.

I also would need to be convinced that the beaches and resorts are so much better than the Caribbean and Mexico that it would justify the longer and more expensive flight.

Maybe it would make more sense to do it in the summer when I could do some traveling through Europe and then end up at a resort in Turkey at the end of the adventure for some rest and relaxation after jumping trains through Europe for a couple of weeks.

This discussion got me interested in going to an all inclusive in Egypt so I did a little research. Looks like most of the luxury resorts are in Sharm El Sheikh. Has anyone been to Sharm El Sheikh?

Hi Lea, this is also the area I have zeroed in on. Let me know if you find anything interesting in your research and I will do the same.

This is the best resource I have found so far: http://www.travelpod.com/resorts-all-inclusive/Sharm_El_Sheikh.html

Well, so far I know that Sharm el-Sheikh is a city on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula on the northern most coast of the Red Sea.

It is a good area for snorkeling and scuba diving with clear water and lots of colorful fish. Some consider this area to be one of the best snorkeling and diving areas in the entire world.

It has rapidly become a hot spot for tourism with lots of resorts in the area.

The scuba diving is one reason I am taking a serious look at going. From my research, Pirates Dive Company gets good reviews. I also enjoy snorkeling whn I'm not diving so this destination is rising fast on my list of potential vacation destinations.

Now I want to figure out how the currency exchange works.

1 American dollar is worth 5.478 Egyptian pounds.

I would think that you would book your resort through an American travel agency so most of your expenses would be paid up front. Knowing the conversion rate will help you get an idea of how much the dive companies charge.
