Does anyone know if there are rankings for the most luxurious all inclusive resorts in the world? I did a few searches, but I didn't find much. I thought I saw a list in a Forbes Magazine article a couple of years ago, but I can't seem to track it down and it is probably out of date by now.
Do all inclusive resorts have a universal rating system? Do I simply look for five star all inclusive resorts? Are there competing ranking companies?
Is the AAA Five Diamond resort ranking the main ranking for resorts? I wish there was a good ranking of just all inclusive resorts so we didn't have to figure out which Five Diamond resorts were all inclusive.
Stayed at El Dorado Royale.....the only thing that was not included was wine with dinner if you wanted it.....around $20 a bottle I believe....this was Nov 08. Food was fabulous with many restaurants to choose from.....top shelf alcoholic drinks were included at all bars.....no charge for anything else unless you wanted to shop, with a nice variety of shops also on the property. Staff was very accomodating and the place was immaculate. Only problem we had was with hot water on 2 occasions....first it was too hot and then we had none...but they corrected both of these issues right away and apologized immensely.
I've heard good things about the El Dorado Resorts. El Dorado Royale seems to be the main resort that has won a few awards, but I'm wondering if anyone has stayed at El Dorado Maroma near Playa del Carmen or at the El Dorado Seaside Suites near Tulum? Are they similar in quality to El Dorado Royale?
I have heard very good things about the Zoetry resort. It is run by the same company that operates the Secrets and Dreams all inclusive resorts.
I probably will never go there because I have two kids. Unless I can convince the inlaws to watch the kids as my wife and I go there for an anniversary or something. Now that I type it, that's a great idea!
I think Necker Island takes the cake on this question.
It is the private island owned by Virgin Atlantic's Richard Branson. He only stayed there a few weeks out of the year so he turned it into a high end resort that only hosts 26 people at a time. I think the nightly fees run from $20,000 to $50,000 per night.
