All Inclusive Resorts

The Most Luxurious All Inclusive Resorts

Does anyone know if there are rankings for the most luxurious all inclusive resorts in the world? I did a few searches, but I didn't find much. I thought I saw a list in a Forbes Magazine article a couple of years ago, but I can't seem to track it down and it is probably out of date by now.

Do all inclusive resorts have a universal rating system? Do I simply look for five star all inclusive resorts? Are there competing ranking companies?

Permalink Reply by S Roman on September 27, 2009 at 5:36pm: Stayed at El Dorado Royale.....the only thing that was not included was wine with dinner if you wanted it.....around $20 a bottle I believe....this was Nov 08. Food was fabulous with many restaurants to choose from.....top shelf alcoholic drinks were included at all bars.....no charge for anything else unless you wanted to shop, with a nice variety of shops also on the property. Staff was very accomodating and the place was immaculate. Only problem we had was with hot water on 2 occasions....first it was too hot and then we had none...but they corrected both of these issues right away and apologized immensely.; ▶ Reply to This

El Dorado Royale seems to be the main resort that has won a few awards, but I'm wondering if anyone has stayed at El Dorado Maroma near Playa del Carmen or at the El Dorado Seaside Suites near Tulum? I probably will never go there because I have two kids. Unless I can convince the inlaws to watch the kids as my wife and I go there for an anniversary or something. Now that I type it, that's a great idea!; ▶ Reply to This

It is the private island owned by Virgin Atlantic's Richard Branson. He only stayed there a few weeks out of the year so he turned it into a high end resort that only hosts 26 people at a time. I think the nightly fees run from $20,000 to $50,000 per night.; ▶ Reply to This
